Is It Crazy to Walk In These Or Is It a Shoe Addiction?

Ok…I confess….I love shoes.  I have more shoes than I care to admit at this time.  My closet is overflowing.  My office is decorated in varying heel heights so that I am always prepared whatever the occasion.  I am the CEO of a woman’s shoe company. Ok…I’ll admit it!   I am a shoe addict.

Some might take that as a negative but I relish in it.  I’m know as the “Queen of Heels” and what a great empire to rule…platforms, stilettos, flats, mules, sandals, high heels, kitten heels, boots, Mary Janes…you can call them what you wish.  They are all part of what I call “heaven on earth.”

The true addict has more shoes than what some would deem necessary which is a shock to her.  Someone once asked me if I thought I was excessive and I found myself perplexed as I thought everyone felt the need to have every color foot ornament in varying sizes and shapes.  Making decisions on sizes, colors, shapes, comfort levels, and fabrics is something I do everyday and I can’t say I ever get tired of it but just because of sheer exposure a shoe that makes me go wow has to stand out.  In fact, I pride my company in only selecting these styles.  We are anything but ordinary…because shoe addicts need to be wowed!!

Number One Seller

This shoe arrived at our store a few weeks ago and has caused quite a stir.  I never buy a shoe twice but I had such a demand that I bought every shoe I could get my hands on.  Why so popular?  I think the color has a lot to do with it.  Nude is hot right now!!  It’s an easy kitten heel so the amount of people who can wear them is huge.  The bow is dramatic and has a definite european flair which is not found in today’s styles.  This is a winner with an affordable price….afforable luxury fashion…I told you this was heaven on earth!  (available on eBay  if you can’t get to the store  http://stores.ebay.com/Deborah-Stilettos22).  It is currently available in nude, red and black.  Stunning and one you will not want to pass up.

For those who are looking for a little bit of a wilder look, go no further.  When I spotted these lovelies at the Las Vegas Shoe Show, I knew my shoe addict sisters would melt and they have over and over again when seeing them.  The attraction?  Different, animal print, rhinestones…three strikes only this one gets a home run.

If you aren’t getting your man to whistle a love song when you wear these, you better check his pulse.  A true winner!  I would even call this “zexy”…ok I made it up but isn’t it a good word to describe it?   Available on eBay  http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-HEART-KITTEN-HEELS-CHEETAH-AND-RHINESTONES-SO-UNIQUE-STAND-OUT-/170834293248?pt=US_Women_s_Shoes&var=&hash=item6d756d0ace.

Ok…now for my high heels sisters who graduated with a PhD in heels.  There are not enough words to describe them so lets just say sexy…crazy…heels and leave it at that.

This is available on our other shopping site.  http://www.bonanza.com/listings/4-CRAZY-UNIQUE-HEEL-IN-LEOPARD-AND-CHEETAH-PRINTS/72125481.

Don’t worry if these are not your personality…we have over 180 styles to choose from so go ahead…take the plunge…your closet has room.

10 Reasons Why Your Business Can’t Afford Not To Be On Pinterest

I will be the first to admit that I was not the first to embrace the concept of Pinterest.  Quite frankly, I thought it was for people who had nothing better to do with their time than post random pictures in scrapbook-like categories.  I am the CEO of a company and spare time is as rare as cheap gas but soon I learned that not finding time for Pinterest would be a mistake my company could not afford to make.

For those of us born slightly prior to the computer era, keeping up with the ever-changing technological world can be somewhat daunting.  Now couple that with this “thing” called social media and you can find yourself always positioned behind the eight ball.  However, social media and Pinterest, most recently, cannot be ignored if those of us who find ourselves in the position of product branding want to be on the mind of those purchasing products each and everyday at the push of a button.

1- Pinterest is EASY to Use

I have a tendency to avoid what I don’t understand.  So it was no surprise to anyone   in my company that I dragged my heels (no pun intended) in embracing Pinterest.  I dreaded going on to another social media hot spot only to belabor the instructions and work through the kinks through trial and error.  However, Pinterest was as easy as putting a hot knife through butter.  The designers of this site made the site fun, easy, and addicting.

2- Instantly My Products Can Be Viewed and Repinned To Many Others

I come from the days of sending out postcards to prospective clients showing the latest and greatest of what my company had to offer.  The customer would marvel at the card, pick up the phone and call for further information.  Gone are those days.  Knowing what I do today, this method almost seems like it was taken from the annals of the Stone Age as it was anything but quick and easy.  Using Pinterest, I simply upload my product pictures, add some text (Pinterest was very generous in allowing a nice amount of space for those who love to talk about what we have to offer), I can attach a link and click.  Within seconds, my product went from the best kept secret to viral.  No wait time…no post office…no mailing lists.  Nice.

3- Pinterest Works Hand In Hand With Other Social Media Outlets

For those of us pressed for time, Pinterest has not only built a great platform to show what we have to offer but allows us to share this with other media outlets like Twitter and Facebook.  So one picture post has the possibilities of finding a home on three social media outlets and like the old Wella Balsam ad went “and they told two people and they told two people and on and on.”

4- See What Others In Your Industry are Doing

No need to set up spies like Bill Belachek did to win football games.  The cards are all laid out there for you to see.  Now it doesn’t take a brain sergeant to figure out that your competition also has a front row seat to what you are producing but if you are marketing your product correctly, they will anyway.  Conversely, if you see that those you are competing with in the open market all are offering products that are more similar than not, it might be a nice time to make a hard left and offer something different or improved.  In one place, you can see what is out there being offered and try to make it better.

5- Pinterest is No Cost Test Market

Remember the days of walking through the mall only to be stopped by a lovely woman with a clipboard soliciting your opinion on what perfume you wore, what vegetable brand you serve at dinner, or what television show you most watched.  Pinterest is a dream come true!  You have the option of following people on Pinterest that you have found to have a common interest or found their “pins” (Pinterest’s term for pictures that you post) to be interesting.  I suggest you find twenty people who have a connection to your business service or product.  They are a representation of what potential buyers are drawn.  If you start to see a repeated theme in the category in which you do business, you might want to consider incorporating those items into your own line or offerings.

6- Pinterest Allows You To Connect With More People

Some of us blasts from the past know this as the” touch program.”  The more times you can reach out to someone and show them what your company has to offer the better chance you have of success.  As I mentioned before, Pinterest does not only support this on their platform but makes connecting with others from other Social Media circles as easy as clicking a button.  People who view your pictures can comment back on them starting an instant dialogue and the possibility of building a relationship with a new client.  No return phone calls.  No email to be sent out.  And, more importantly, others viewing can read the conversation taking place causing more interest.

7- 10 Million Viewers a Month

Now that I have your attention!  What other marketing path could you travel that would allow you to advertise for FREE to 10 million viewers 24 hours a day every day of the month.  This doesn’t even count those who will see it on their Facebook and Twitter Accounts once it posts there as well.  And, unlike any other advertising channel,  your pictures remain allowing for people to revisit or find them at later dates when they have a need for what you have.  This alone should have you on pinning this afternoon.

8- A Picture Says A Thousand Words

Let’s face it.  Not all of us are word weavers or copy writers.  Pinterest lets you off the hook by letting your pin do all the talking.  Now Pinterest does encourage you to at least put a title on your post but you would want to do this anyway.  This can include your company’s name, website, and phone number.

9- Pinterest Let’s You Post Your Price Tag

Depending on your market, this might or might no be something that you can entertain.  I am in the women’s shoe business so not only are my clients impulse driven but they are price driven.  I can pin a shoe we just designed or got in for our stores, add a description, and simply type the price in the text box.  As soon as Pinterest detects the dollar sign it creates a banner on the top left hand corner of your picture. Viola…not only does my client get attracted to the heel by merely stumbling upon the picture but now she knows the price is affordable luxury fashion.  Home run, touchdown, or cha ching at the register…whatever lights you up.

10- Pinterest Showcases Your Company’s Ties With the Community Through Your Philanthropic Commitments

Who doesn’t love a company who gives back to those in need or helps their community.  By just creating a new board (how Pinterest allows you to categorize your pictures for easy viewing) potential clients will be able to align you with your charitable contributions.

BONUS- Ok, This is Not a Benefit To Your Business But You Will have Such Joy When Your Teenage Kids Realize Your Pictures are Being Repinned By Their Friends.

Who said you weren’t cool?

Murder on A High Heel? Did This Designer Go Too Far?

We all choose our shoes as an extension of our personalities.  Wearing the perfect stiletto in red might be an indication that you are feeling sexy in your little black dress.  If you are like me, heels can also be an artistic expression.  I don’t particularly go for the loud printed dresses and shirts so I save this blast of color for my feet and I really appreciate the designers who have added a creative twist to their designs.

Christian Louboutin has even capture the color red and has made a legal battle for trademarking the shade as an expression of his brand.  In return when another spots the red underside of another woman’s heel it automatically gives her status in the fashion world.  The shoes are known to be expensive and trendy.

But what happens when a designer takes a large leap out of the box?  We have long since battled the issue of  creative banning in both our libraries and museums alike.  But to my knowledge this has not been a major battle in the fashion world.  Sure we combat the occasional breast exposure and areola sighting but the fashion world is not usually faced with the question of whether or not the actual message in the piece is inappropriate or not.

Recently, I was messaged this high heel that was found by a friend of mine in which the sender stated that the stiletto was disturbing.  In a world where it has become acceptable to use the “n” word in our lyrics, make music videos of women being beaten, and have magazines showing fourteen girls looking as though they are 25 in provocative poses, I did not think anything could shock me.  And I  was wrong.

Blood splattered heel named "The Victim"

I am not even sure if shocked is the right word.  To be honest, I was sickened and emotional to see what designer, Antony felt was good fashion.  Having suffered from domestic violence, this heel invoked a feeling from me that I may not be looking for in a pair of heels.  I think if the shoe had been designed for a Battered Woman’s event I might be more forgiving however this stiletto is available on the open market for $99.00.  I am far from a prude and I have not come across many… if any… heels that I would not wear…until now.  The loss of so many women due to violence should be spotlighted and worn on tee shirts as messages not on our feet as victims.  What do you think?

Jacqueline Kennedy- Most Influential Fashion Trend Setter

Jacqueline Kennedy’s fashion sense had more of an influence on the fashion world than any other First Lady of modern history.  While some squawked at her blatant disregard to price tags and American designers, there was no one who could deny that Jackie O was America’s version of royalty.

Jacqueline Kennedy had a flair for design.  She is single-handedly responsible for bringing historical importance back to the White House by uncovering treasures that were packed away in the basement and restoring some of the historical pieces that were worn down from use and neglect. This allowed the grandeur of the home of the President of the United States to be returned.

The 1960′s fashion world was seen by most as a conviction of the wealthy.  Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy had been raised with money and remained in the same financial bracket when she took the hand of the handsome John Kennedy.  Determined to give a positive light to the fashion world, Jackie kept her finger on the pulse of fashion often bridging different cultures together by wearing a designer of the country they were visiting.  Most notably was the dress designed by Givenchy in France that she wore to the French President’s dinner in which President Kennedy proudly introduced himself “as the man who accompanied Jacqueline Kennedy to Paris.”  The headlines of Mrs.Kennedy’s latest outfits soon took over the current event headlines of the times putting much attention to what this new, young first lady was wearing.

Oleg Cassini was the designer of choice of the first lady and probably was most notably the thing she was most criticized in the domestic fashion world.  Oleg was French and many of the beautiful frocks that would be purchased by Mrs. Kennedy would be imported to the United States from Europe.  Many believed that she should have bought American and was somewhat disloyal to the American designers.  Mrs. Kennedy began to purchase more from America but her love and true ties remained to the Cassini Couture house that continued to her death.

If there was one fashion piece that Jackie Kennedy was most noted and copied, it would be the three strand pearl necklace made for her by Lane Jewelers.  The necklace was a standard accessory for her and one women across the United States and abroad sought after in the faux form.  In 1964, she received the prestigious honor of being place on the International Best Dressed List and remained part of the admiration and attention of the American people long after he husband was laid to rest.

Flatter Your Figure with the Right Heels

As women, we spend a lot of time trying to make ourselves look thinner, taller, more shapely, and stylish.  Most of the focus goes on the outfit…choosing the right color (usually black) to thin out our hips or our junk in the trunk.  Then there are some of us (not me) who were born with super straight shapes and need a little help rounding things out.  While clothes play a vital role on the final outcome of our outfit.  Don’t be quick to overlook the importance of the heels you select to wear.

If your legs need a little enhancing, chunky heels will help give them a pick me up.  Pair this with a blazer if you find yourself with more of an apple figure (busty and booty with thin arms and legs).  Bright bracelets and rings will draw the eye downward and will not focus people’s attention to challenges you might be trying to overcome.

Available at Deborah Stilettos for $39.95!!

Some of us have been blessed with an hourglass figure but that certainly does not mean that you don’t have to be aware of what you put on to best highlight your God-given silhouette.  Slim pointy-toed heels will lighten your lower half and paired with a skinny belt will make your waist look even more slender.

Available at Deborah Stilettos for $39.95

If you are pretty straight from top to bottom and this is not the look you are trying to achieve, don’t fret.  You have come to the right place.  Sexy lace up boots give a little pizzaz to super straight legs.  Check these out…

Maybe your body shape is not causing you to sigh.  Maybe you are just looking for a new style.  Retro is all over the pages of every fashion magazines this upcoming season and I must admit it is really a favorite of mine.  The past designs of some very notable designers such as Chanel and Christian Dior are making a comeback giving women a confident and feminine look to look forward.  A thin knit sweater will give you the flashback of the past when paired with a little black dress.  It is a very nice look that won’t have you causing a frown line on your forehead because if the sweater is thin you will not cause yourself bulkiness.  Throw on a pair of retro black pumps (available at Deborah Stilettos for $39.95) and you too can enjoy some affordable luxury!!

5 Ways Women Can Become Sexier

With everyone nipping and tucking, it can make a girl wonder if there is anything she can do on her own to make herself more sexy.  The answer is absolutely….YES!!  Since the beginning of time, men have enjoyed admiring which is perfect for women because we love admiration.   However, being sexy is not just for the mouse and cat game, feeling sexy can do wonders for our confidence, self-esteem and general disposition.

So what can we do, with what we were given, to vamp up the sexometer?

1- The color red is the color of romance and pursuit.  Like a bull with a matador, red is the color of attraction.  Women, especially when we get older, have a habit of building their closet on the color black.  Next time you are looking for something special to wear try substituting it for something alluring and sensual like a red dress.

2- What would a sexy dress be without fabulous high heels?  Many woman will choose to shortcut in this department but worry about the kitten heels tomorrow if you are looking to be sexy today.  When heels are worn, our buttocks look curvier, our breasts extend outward and our legs look firm and long.  Consider heels a quick and inexpensive alternative to plastic surgery.  A win in every category.  If you are petite like me, consider a nude color heel.  This will make your legs appear even longer if worn with a nude color stocking or au natural.  If you are a woman of color chose a tone that is complimentary to your skin tone and hose.

3- Full lips are often viewed as kissable lips.  Now you might say…I thought this was an article on things we can achieve with what we have and it is.  You don’t need lip injections to have the look of full lips.  Go to the cosmetic counter and get a nice lip liner, lipstick and lip gloss.  When putting the lip liner on, go slowly outside your lip line.  If you are not very much into color, try just using shiny lip gloss or one with a shimmer. Your lips will pop and make them very desirable.

4- While research shows that the opposite sex is attracted to long hair, don’t fret if long locks are not something you are currently sporting.  Keep your hair shiny and well cared will go just as far.  If you are currently wearing your hair past your shoulders, make sure it looks well-groomed and healthy…if you want to take it up one more notch trying wearing your hair pulled over to one side with an exposed shoulder.

5-A little scent behind the ears will drive men crazy but be sure not to over power your own scent.  Women were blessed with their own natural pheromones that men are instinctively attracted.  I know for myself I always feel better when I have my favorite scent on. So perfume is not only for others but for ourselves.  Try Channel’s Mademoiselle.  Heaven!!!

Love you Bellas!

Vintage Chanel…A Love Affair

There are certain designers that have held the reins of fashion through the years…Christian Dior, Ceil Chapman, and none other than Coco Chanel.  An entrepreneurial woman before her time, this courageous woman was born in the late 1800′s and started her couture house in the early 1900′s at a time in which women were not even allowed to vote in the United States.

Having a background in fabrics, Coco decided to venture out on her own with the help of her boyfriend and financier, Arthur Capel.  Almost in seemless motion Chanel not only began alluring and dazzling women with her fashion talents but also created what would become the longest running fragrances of all of the Chanel perfume line…Chanel no. 5.  A scent that captured the beauty and femininity of womanhood and a following that withstood decades.  What many do not know is that Coco closed the fashion division of her business by the 1930′s to concentrate of the success of her beloved perfume.

By the 1950′s Coco was ready to reemerge into the fashion world-changing the  runways of the fashion world for good.  Not only was she honored with some of the most prestigious designing awards such as the Neiman Marcus award (the highest fashion award of its time) with jaw dropping evening gowns but she also made an equal mark in the day-to-day fashions of the working woman.

Vintage Channel

While the fashion world lost one of our greatest designer at 87 in the 1970′s, her interconnecting double “c’s” linked together back to back is one of the most sought after labels still today.  After her passing, her beloved couture house was run by various designers holding true to the true visions of Coco and what she deemed worthy to bear her name.  It wasn’t until the German designer, Karl Lagerfeld, turned the Channel runway upside down pairing Channel world-famous boxy jackets with mini skirts.  In true honor to the matriarch of this couture house giant, a new era had begun but not without the noticeable contributions of its originator ever so present.

5 Fun Ways of Wearing Polka Dots This Spring

Through much research, I have come up with the conclusion that the origin of the polka dot is unknown as what came first the chicken or the egg.  Perhaps the most historically referenced polka dotted wearer was Minnie Mouse.  Since at least that point in history, through vintage and new fashion, the polka dot has remained constant and beloved.  So when this year’s fashion feature of the oh so amazing dot graced the fashioned world, we were only so happy to welcome it home.

1- I believe that the white or black dot looks good on just about everything. But my best dotted find so far this season has been a pair of cream colored pumps with black polka dots.  They are simply adorable.  Recently on my trip to Las Vegas, I had the occassion to wear them and they did create quite a stir!  A definate must have this season.

Polka Dotted Pumps Available in March $42.95

2- When wearing polka dots, I think it is best to chose one  article of clothing, accessory or pair of shoes to wear as a statement.  This fashion style is bold and is best when it stands alone.

3- If polka dots are too bold for you, that’s ok.  Accessories are a nice way to introduce the look in a subtle way.  I am always looking to make a fashion statement so I would pair these lovely glasses with a cute polka dotted sweater or skirt.  But if you are looking for a simplier look that stay with a cute pair of glasses, purse or even a chiffon scarf.

Polka Dotted Accessories

4- Pearls are a great accent to wear with polka dots because when paired with this style they stand out and capture the feeling.  I love wearing my big chunky pearls especially because they tie the look together and make a classy statement.

5-While at the Las vegas Magic show I had the delight of sitting in a Q & A session of other fashion bloggers.  There was a fabulous young woman who blogged to 14-24 year olds.  She had pink blond hair, a line of flowers in her hair, and the most fabulous pair of polka dotted tights.  They would probably not be something I would find myself in, but it just was another example of how polka dots are everywhere…for you to where in whatever capacity you are most comfortable.

The Savory Outdoors- Style, Fashion, Heels

While bright colors are certainly making their statement this spring season, minimalists please don’t fret.  The textures of the outdoors are also in the mix.  Natural woods are showing on the heels of some of the highest and fun chunky heels.  I certainly love the bright colors and am excited to add these palettes to my already burdened shoe closet but there is still something very appealing to the look of these wooden high heels, purses and even jewelry.  While I don’t necessarily think these are the greatest pairings with the pinks, greens and yellows that are flashing across the fashion magazines, I do think the natural look looks very appealing with black, white and of course the creams and browns.

There is nothing quite like going to the beach for a romantic dinner wearing a simple cream flowey dress with wooden adornments.  It’s almost as if you become as appealing as the natural setting.

Personally, I love the wooden heels that started coming out late in the fall of 2011 as a teaser to the upcoming trend of the spring.  The heels almost look like furniture of the feet.  They are playful, charming and in some strange way they are a bit sophisticated.  Coming off the very thin stilettos heel, the chunky heel of the spring adapts well to this natural approach.

I’m on my way to Las Vegas next weekend so the vendors have been wonderful in mailing every catalog to me in advance.  I have seen a few of the platforms following the same suit as the heel having a very heavily stated front platform lift.  It’s a very interesting look and one I will definately be adding to my assortment of shoes.

The Director of Dreams- Valentines, Heels, and Love.

Pressure…pressure…pressure for Valentine’s Day.  I always think that I have to be the easiest person to buy for on Valentine’s Day.  I love everything that has to do with being a female.  However, I have been told on more than one occassion that people who buy for me feel pressure because I am particular.  Not that I ever noticed!!

Unfortunately, it is not just the day of hearts and flowers that causes men to sweat…it is any day that women have expectations…birthdays, Mother’s day (don’t ever come up with the excuse that she is not your mother…if she bore you children…a box with a pretty bow should be on the horizon), anniversaries, your first date, the first kiss…the list goes on and on.  When I did consulting work a few years back, I had the pleasure of working with one of the most gorgeous bed and breakfasts, Chimney Hill Estate Inn, in Lambertville, New Jersey.  There I had a fantastic job .  In short, I got the phone calls from all the men who were distraught because for one reason or the other they had found themselves in the dog house, were a little late in planning their wife’s birthday and had no idea where to start, or the good old fashioned…they were looking to get lucky and that was only going to happen with a whole lot of romantic notions.  Viola…the Director of Dreams.

Let me tell you, while this seems like a drudgery, it was actually a special time when I heard the sweetest stories.  Men truly want to do something things nice for their wives, girlfriends, or significant others.  They just don’t know what it is that will wind our clock.  Is it chocolate, flowers, high heels (I’m plugging that one), a card, wine….the list goes on.  The truth is it’s all of those things and none of those things.  Women love all of those things but to be fair unless you really know her size- come into Deborah Stilettos and buy a gift card.  She will love coming into the store to try on all of our beautiful high heels, stilettos, chunky heels, flats…well you get the picture.  However, don’t be Mr. Emotionless and think these items will get you a key to unlock to dog house door.  We want you to be sweet.  Come on…you can do it…fake it to you make it!

Valentine's Day and Heeling

Valentine's Day and Heeling

Romance is about the wining and dining but it is also about telling us how beautiful we look and how we are the love of your life.  While you might have midnight plans of romance, don’t spell that out immediately.  She already has a list of demands from kids, her aging parents, and boss.  The best quote I ever heard from the book Men Are From Mars, Women are From Venus was that “men are microwaves and women are crockpots.”  Don’t think you are just going to push start and the meal will be ready.  Instead, bring the flowers, chocolates, gift card and sweet talk and slowly the pot will warm.  Kisses Bellas,  Deborah Stilettos.  www.DeborahStilettos.com
