The Savory Outdoors- Style, Fashion, Heels

While bright colors are certainly making their statement this spring season, minimalists please don’t fret.  The textures of the outdoors are also in the mix.  Natural woods are showing on the heels of some of the highest and fun chunky heels.  I certainly love the bright colors and am excited to add these palettes to my already burdened shoe closet but there is still something very appealing to the look of these wooden high heels, purses and even jewelry.  While I don’t necessarily think these are the greatest pairings with the pinks, greens and yellows that are flashing across the fashion magazines, I do think the natural look looks very appealing with black, white and of course the creams and browns.

There is nothing quite like going to the beach for a romantic dinner wearing a simple cream flowey dress with wooden adornments.  It’s almost as if you become as appealing as the natural setting.

Personally, I love the wooden heels that started coming out late in the fall of 2011 as a teaser to the upcoming trend of the spring.  The heels almost look like furniture of the feet.  They are playful, charming and in some strange way they are a bit sophisticated.  Coming off the very thin stilettos heel, the chunky heel of the spring adapts well to this natural approach.

I’m on my way to Las Vegas next weekend so the vendors have been wonderful in mailing every catalog to me in advance.  I have seen a few of the platforms following the same suit as the heel having a very heavily stated front platform lift.  It’s a very interesting look and one I will definately be adding to my assortment of shoes.

Does Size Matter?

Now that I got your attention…does the size of a high heel matter?  Well, of course it does.  There are basically six types of women’s heel lengths.  They are the flat, kitten heel, mid-range, chunky heel, the wedge and the ever so lovely, stiletto.

The flat shoe is loved by many.  It is easy to slip on and off to the races you go.

The kitten heel seems to be the beloved shoe of women my age (45).  I think for many women who chose to wear the kitten heel they do because they have been out of heels for so long that it is a nice re-entry into the high heel world.  If you don’t walk well in heels and want to learn, this is a great shoe heel to start.

Available for $39.95 this weekend

The mid-range heel is usually a high heel that measures 2-1/2 to 3-1/2 inch in length.  They are more of a high heel experience without crossing over to the high heel stature.  This is probably the most desired of all of the heels and the one that is most often purchased in my store.  Women can still have the experience without too much concern.

One of the most featured heels this spring is the chunky heel.  I think it will really provide women with the opportunity to step it up a notch.  Walking on a chunky heel gives you more stability than say just walking on a high heel.  Many of these shoes have built in platforms in the front which allows for a higher heel.

The beloved wedge…it’s been around forever and we love this shoe because it is fun and easy to walk in.  The shoes below are some of my favorites.  They are crazy high but I can practically run in them.  The are so much fun to walk in and I get so many compliments on them.  These particular shoes are great with tights!!

The final heel is the one I named my store after and is truly my favorite to wear. It’s the stiletto.  This is like the PHd of shoes.  The heel to wear only when you are a veteran in walking in high heels.  These heels are very thin and are usually 4 inches and above.

They are truly an art to walk in and you can’t help but turn heads when wearing them.  Kisses Bellas, Deborah Stilettos  www.DeborahStilettos.com

These Heels Were Made for Walking But Not Traveling

As I previously mentioned, in a few weeks I will be traveling to Las Vegas to visit the world’s biggest shoe show.  Of course, there is pressure to wear the most adorable heels because you are amongst the fashion gurus and their models.  I would love to tell you I am a throw it in a backpack and jet kind of girl but that would be like asking lightening to strike me.  Packing for an overnight trip to a friends house can be a daunting task but for the shoe show…there is planning.

The airlines have almost made it impossible for you to traveling with style and flexibility as extra baggage is almost as expensive as buying another plane ticket for your bags.  Women today are not only pressured to dress smartly but to pack that way as well.  The first thing I do now when I travel is put a lot of thought into what I will wear.  Choosing standard colors also means I can use the same shoes for different outfits.  A black suit or gray dress can both be worn with a stylish pair of black pumps.  If you are in the same situation that I will be in… where fashion is paramount, shoe accessories might be your solution.  These fabulous clip on jewels can add just enough bling to your outfit.  This gives the heel a new look- allowing any shoe to become an affordable heel.

Dressing From the Bottom Up

Do you believe in love at first site?  I do.  It happens everytime I walk into the mall.  Like a voice from the heavens calling my name, I am summoned to the latest and greatest pair of high heels.  Like a magnet to metal, I am pulled by forces greater then myself where stilettos, platforms, and pumps sit graciously on their perches just waiting to be noticed by me.  I am a shoe addict.  I love all shoes but nothing lights me up more than a pair of stunners that have been marked down to  be now classified as affordable luxury…affordable heels just are even more of a draw.

One of the many reasons I opened Deborah Stilettos, located at 16 W Bridge Street in New Hope, Pennsylvania was for my love of high heels and that I was always on the hunt for the greatest unusual stilettos, pump, or platform.  Many times, I would dress from the bottom up- I would buy the heel first and then find an outfit to match.  The process allowed me to sometimes walk out of my comfort zone because the shoe was so unusual or the color was different that before I was wearing something I never pictured myself in before.  Our goal is to provide the unusual, the unique and the affordable.  We want all women to have the opportunity to wear beautiful shoes because shoes make us feel glamorous and well….female.

Not everything is hinged on heels…we have a fabulous collection of flats and have placed our orders for some very stylish sandals for this uncoming spring and summer season.  The colors are bright and shiny.  Natural elements like feathers and stones embellish others.

So next time you are in your travels and you see the shoe of a life time…grab it!!! It will be easier to find an outfit to pair with it than to find the shoe again.  Or come visit us at Deborah Stilettos or www.DeborahStilettos.com.
