I would love to tell all of you that I will be watching the Oscars to see if my favorite movie won Best Picture or I was biting my nails to see who the Best Actress of the Year will go to. However, that would be a lie because truth be told the movie theatre has become nothing more than a place for me to get a nap. I usually get into ten minutes of the movie and my eyes go north into the back of my head. Sorry for all you movie lovers out there. No….I will be watching the Oscars to see who is the best dressed and maybe even to see who didn’t quite make the look and will unfortunately find themselves high on the list of worst dressed. It’s glamour time and I will have my nose firmly placed on the television screen to see what designers were graced to have their wares worn by some of the hottest stars.
There is a lot that goes behind the scenes before one single foot hits the red carpet. Nothing is by chance. Designers often do not know who will actually chose to wear their gowns, heels, and jewelry until they see them exit their limousine. Stars are often given three to five gowns to choose from various designers. This single event is so important to the annual success of a designer that some have even begun to pay the stars to wear them. This has brought out a whole bargaining campaign for agents representing the stars to get for their clients. According to the records, some of the very hot designers have offered up to $45,000 for this walk across the red carpet.
The couture houses have already had full staffs flown from all corners of the world to set up small tailor centers and large closets to accommodate the stars in every way possible. The gowns, stilettos and jewelry are hand delivered. The dresses come along with a personal seamstress to assure that the dazzling gown hangs from the starlet in exactly the most flattering way. I truly can’t wait for the Oscars dazzling night and hope that we will see some true impressive glamour while doing so.
What will you be wearing?
