Is It Crazy to Walk In These Or Is It a Shoe Addiction?

Ok…I confess….I love shoes.  I have more shoes than I care to admit at this time.  My closet is overflowing.  My office is decorated in varying heel heights so that I am always prepared whatever the occasion.  I am the CEO of a woman’s shoe company. Ok…I’ll admit it!   I am a shoe addict.

Some might take that as a negative but I relish in it.  I’m know as the “Queen of Heels” and what a great empire to rule…platforms, stilettos, flats, mules, sandals, high heels, kitten heels, boots, Mary Janes…you can call them what you wish.  They are all part of what I call “heaven on earth.”

The true addict has more shoes than what some would deem necessary which is a shock to her.  Someone once asked me if I thought I was excessive and I found myself perplexed as I thought everyone felt the need to have every color foot ornament in varying sizes and shapes.  Making decisions on sizes, colors, shapes, comfort levels, and fabrics is something I do everyday and I can’t say I ever get tired of it but just because of sheer exposure a shoe that makes me go wow has to stand out.  In fact, I pride my company in only selecting these styles.  We are anything but ordinary…because shoe addicts need to be wowed!!

Number One Seller

This shoe arrived at our store a few weeks ago and has caused quite a stir.  I never buy a shoe twice but I had such a demand that I bought every shoe I could get my hands on.  Why so popular?  I think the color has a lot to do with it.  Nude is hot right now!!  It’s an easy kitten heel so the amount of people who can wear them is huge.  The bow is dramatic and has a definite european flair which is not found in today’s styles.  This is a winner with an affordable price….afforable luxury fashion…I told you this was heaven on earth!  (available on eBay  if you can’t get to the store  http://stores.ebay.com/Deborah-Stilettos22).  It is currently available in nude, red and black.  Stunning and one you will not want to pass up.

For those who are looking for a little bit of a wilder look, go no further.  When I spotted these lovelies at the Las Vegas Shoe Show, I knew my shoe addict sisters would melt and they have over and over again when seeing them.  The attraction?  Different, animal print, rhinestones…three strikes only this one gets a home run.

If you aren’t getting your man to whistle a love song when you wear these, you better check his pulse.  A true winner!  I would even call this “zexy”…ok I made it up but isn’t it a good word to describe it?   Available on eBay  http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-HEART-KITTEN-HEELS-CHEETAH-AND-RHINESTONES-SO-UNIQUE-STAND-OUT-/170834293248?pt=US_Women_s_Shoes&var=&hash=item6d756d0ace.

Ok…now for my high heels sisters who graduated with a PhD in heels.  There are not enough words to describe them so lets just say sexy…crazy…heels and leave it at that.

This is available on our other shopping site.  http://www.bonanza.com/listings/4-CRAZY-UNIQUE-HEEL-IN-LEOPARD-AND-CHEETAH-PRINTS/72125481.

Don’t worry if these are not your personality…we have over 180 styles to choose from so go ahead…take the plunge…your closet has room.

Seeing Dots-Polka Dotted Stilettos

As polka dots make a big splash across the fashion winter/spring 2012 world, I chuckle to see the new designers smile broadly at their “new” fashion find.  Unfortunately, I have reached an age where I have seen fashion trends and crazes cycle back around like an old familiar friend.  Perhaps the application has a new twist but the concept is reflective of the past or what we call “vintage inspired.”  Over the past few years, vintage has taken hold of the fashion world making it only too chic to mix yesterday’s fashions with today’s concepts. And while many fashion experts will only be too happy to pontificate the falling in love all over again of a trend from the past, perhaps it is just the true appreciation of good fashion design.

I must admit I was over the moon when dots appeared before my eyes on this years most popular pumps, heels, and flats.  I found them to be fun, young and in some ways familiar.  As much as I tried, I was unable to control my urge to buy anything that had these little colored in circles.  I was like a young girl at a Sadie Hawkins dance unable to pick which one I would attend the dance.   As a true fashion addict, it only seemed reasonable to buy everything and anything with a polka dot on it.

Now I know that this fashion craze will see its final days relatively soon unless we decide to hold the fashion icons in a hold pattern much like we continue to do with the animal print craze.  Polka dots are eye-catching and even on a rainy Monday just throwing on a polka-dotted rain coat can make me swear I see rays of sunshine.  This spring’s shoe fashions have brought delectable colors back and while I love them I am drawn to those with dots like a moth to an outside light bulb in the summer.

Hot off the press!!  These just arrived on Friday.  So much fun and keeping in true commitment to my Shoe Sorority Sisters these lovelies are affordable. $39.95-affordable luxurious fashion at it’s best.

Stilettos During the Day…Toilet Brush At Night

I have the dream job.  I design and sell women’s shoes, heels, pumps, flats….. Each morning I get to dress up in the latest and greatest to go to work. Wearing a new pair of stilettos that was delivered to the store the day before, I spend my day blogging, reporting on, and delivering the newest and most fashionable shoes to all of my sisters of our Shoe Sorority. ( Send your email to Deborah@DeborahStilettos.com and I will be sure to sign you up.) The days are fun and glamorous.

Then five o’clock arrives.  I drive the short distance between my office/store and my home still in a good mood from all the goodies I was able to take a sneak peek on during my afternoon.   With the twist of my front door knob, I suddenly transform into Cinderella after the clock struck midnight. Words from my day like “fashionably affordable and stunning stilettos” are replaced with “why do I need another mess?”

My son who I picked up from weight lifting just moments earlier has found himself strategically placed on the couch unable to lift the garbage bag from the overflowing can in the kitchen.  My older son who tells me on a daily basis that he hates his science class has turned my kitchen counter into a laboratory test center to see how fast mold can grow on a glass of orange juice poured before he left for school.  My twenty year old daughter, who likes to regularly remind me on how she will manage her home more efficiently has left an empty bag of dog food on my living room chair.  Perhaps it is a new interior design technique I am unaware.

My heels pop off, the oven goes on and I have learned how to spray the Endust can far enough to hit three pieces of furniture at a time.  Then I silently laugh to myself.  The title of motherhood is one I have held longer than any other position at any other company.  Who would have ever known I go from being the Queen of Heels during the day to Princess of the Potty Brush at night?

How Young Is Too Young to Wear Heels?

Admittedly, I am 45 and come from a time where kids were not afforded their every whim. In fact, if I close my eyes, I can still see and even hear my mother give me the lecture on why I did not need a curling iron at 12.  A decision I felt was completely irrational on her part and yet I still did not get one.

Today, anything seems to go.  We have shows like Toddlers and Tiaras and little girls like Suri Holmes have been photographed wearing pumps.  So the question I ask is “how young is too young to wear heels?”

Certainly the pundits have pontificated on whether the use of high heels would cause a young girl health issues whether is be developmental or injury.  I know they do because daily there is some article written about how bad high heels are for grown women of which I simply reply so is global warming, Twinkies, and bad relationships but none of those are going away anytime soon.  And while I think there should be some consideration as to the well-being of a child and prevention of any toddler getting hurt, I think maybe we need to dig a little deeper.  What is the message we are giving to young girls?  Ok don’t blast me yet…I am not a stiff conservative but think for a minute.  We have some very strong issues in this country in this country.  Unlike my days, Seventeen Magazine is not the only game in town.  In fact today’s girls are bombarded with a plethora of subliminal messages from advertisers and the fashion world…you can’t be too thin, too pretty or even too sexy.  The models are 14 going on 25 and very few women of today’s teenage pool are represented by these girls.

We already know that these tall tales that we continue to reverberate to our young women are resulting in low self-esteem, starvation and exploitation.  Young teenage women are constantly confronted on another way to up the ante on the get sexy gamble often being bankrupt emotionally before they even get to adulthood.  So what happens when we send the same messages to toddlers and young girls.  Do we really expect a better outcome?

Before anyone goes shooting out of a cannon…I, too, wore my mother’s heels around the house and relished being a princess for Halloween where I slipped into my beautiful pink plastic pumps but these were rarities and certainly not the norm.  As I am now the mother of three almost grown children, I can understand more clearly the words my mother spoke so long ago.  What is the rush?  There is a lot to be said when the day finally comes and it is appropriate to wear heels as a right of passage.  Heels can wait but can the emotional stability of our future woman?

7 Animal Inspired High Heels

Many of us love our animals but how far would you take your love for furry creatures? Would you wear high heels that were inspired by animals?  I am not talking about animal prints like cheetah, zebra, or snake-skin.  Heels that really capture the art of the animal.  Not sure what I am talking about still…take a further look.  Which one of these heels would you be daring enough to wear?

1-

I happen to like giraffes but I just wonder what you wear with this and for that matter where you go with them on…maybe a safari?

2-

You might be considered the cat’s meow in these pumps…but the cat would be a lion.  They aren’t too bad of a look and are quite “tame” compared to some of the others.

3-

4-

These stunners may shoot you right into the fashion world. But I am not sure I would be happy about having my feet refered to as hooves.

5-

There really isn’t much you can say about these except that these are dogs for your dogs.

6-

These platforms made their first splash in the 70′s when they were all the craze and these added features were attention getters in the disco era.  Don’t worry…a live fish was only used for the picture.  These shoes are still sold today with a fake goldfish.

7-A lot of time an effort went into these swan look alikes but I can’t imagine anyone pulling them off besides Lady Gaga!

Ok Bellas…there you have it.  Which ones would you be daring enough to wear?

10 of the Oddest High Heels

I am a true lover of high heels.  It doesn’t really matter what size heel they have or what color they are.  I have been seen wearing heels with feathers, studs, and spikes…but these shoes were even a little odd to me…let me know what you think…

1.

I really thought these heels/stilettos were unusually pretty.  The colors were bright and the heels were really different.  That was until I found out that the platform of this heel was made from elephant dung.

2-

Ballet anyone?  I can wear amazingly high heel but even these seem ridiculous to me.

3.

These heel definately get high marks for creativity but to me the real beauty of wearing heels is when you can first stand in them and then if you can walk in them.

4.

6.

These are just bizarre to me.  Being a true shoe hoarder I can’t even imagine wearing them.  I think the animal activists would go crazy.

7.

These heels made the list for obvious reasons.  I couldn’t help cringe my face when I thought about walking into a public bathroom with them.

8.

Out of all of the shoes on this list, I would wear these.  They still are odd but sometimes odd is fun!!

9.

These are World Guiness Record holders for the highest heels…enough said!

10.

Giving a totally new look to the wedge. I am not sure they are as easy to walk in as their counterpart.

So there you have it Bellas.  Are there any on this list you would wear?

Kisses,

5 Fun Ways of Wearing Polka Dots This Spring

Through much research, I have come up with the conclusion that the origin of the polka dot is unknown as what came first the chicken or the egg.  Perhaps the most historically referenced polka dotted wearer was Minnie Mouse.  Since at least that point in history, through vintage and new fashion, the polka dot has remained constant and beloved.  So when this year’s fashion feature of the oh so amazing dot graced the fashioned world, we were only so happy to welcome it home.

1- I believe that the white or black dot looks good on just about everything. But my best dotted find so far this season has been a pair of cream colored pumps with black polka dots.  They are simply adorable.  Recently on my trip to Las Vegas, I had the occassion to wear them and they did create quite a stir!  A definate must have this season.

Polka Dotted Pumps Available in March $42.95

2- When wearing polka dots, I think it is best to chose one  article of clothing, accessory or pair of shoes to wear as a statement.  This fashion style is bold and is best when it stands alone.

3- If polka dots are too bold for you, that’s ok.  Accessories are a nice way to introduce the look in a subtle way.  I am always looking to make a fashion statement so I would pair these lovely glasses with a cute polka dotted sweater or skirt.  But if you are looking for a simplier look that stay with a cute pair of glasses, purse or even a chiffon scarf.

Polka Dotted Accessories

4- Pearls are a great accent to wear with polka dots because when paired with this style they stand out and capture the feeling.  I love wearing my big chunky pearls especially because they tie the look together and make a classy statement.

5-While at the Las vegas Magic show I had the delight of sitting in a Q & A session of other fashion bloggers.  There was a fabulous young woman who blogged to 14-24 year olds.  She had pink blond hair, a line of flowers in her hair, and the most fabulous pair of polka dotted tights.  They would probably not be something I would find myself in, but it just was another example of how polka dots are everywhere…for you to where in whatever capacity you are most comfortable.

I Dior You- A Flashback In Heels and Fashion

It’s hard to believe that the world has been graced with the classic and feminine design of Christian Dior for sixty-five years now.  Almost as a homage paid to this creative designer who was before his time in making women look current yet fabulous, this year’s Dior runway was a reflection back to when Christian Dior first graced the stage in 1947.  The postwar had put a bit of a gray look across the fashion world as many were attempting to put there lives back together from a war that touched the four corners of the world.  Women were not only forced to ration food and necessities but also curb their fashion appetites.  Dior was making his big debut as the last designer to show his wares.  Many of the American fashion gurus had already made their way back across the Atlantic but some of the Parisians had heard of this new designer and the promise of a new and exciting line that was sure to bring some color back into the gloomy fashion scenery.  Dior did not disappoint.  Skirts were heavily pleated and water washed in bright colors screaming female to anyone lucky enough to have stuck around.

Soon Dior came up with a suit that was a big buttoned jacket with a cinched waste that flared over the hips of a woman the contrasting skirt was slightly A framed accentuating the hour glass shape of a woman and presenting them as flowers.  The suit was named the Bar and it was not long before women embraced the new look with a fervor.

Dior 1947

So here we are in 2012 and while many of us would hope to be post war again, perhaps fashion is beating the white flags to the punch.  The latest Dior runway show almost mimicked in a modern day flair, the hour glass dresses of days gone by.  After the dismal economic environment coupled with a war with no end, women seem to be retreating back to a time where femininity was embraced and color was welcomed.  Some have even gone as far to say that this body enhancing fashion line pulls at the inner princess in every woman.

Dior 2012

Dior heels follow suit in their matching color and feminine approach.  The colors are evenly matched and give the same graceful feel.  Many of the high heels are in the slingback and pump designs which are iconic of the Dior style

So thank you Mr. Dior for reminding us that we are women with hips and curves and breasts.  Thank you for making a lifetime of clothes that look like the were designed in the image of a woman and not her younger brother.

Flares Are In…What Heels To Wear?

Every time I turn around, another fashion influence from the 70′s seems to be making a come back.  The platform shoe, the chunky heels, the color orange as the exciting palatte of the spring and now…pants with flares.  For any of us who actually remember the 70′s will also recall that this fashion style looks best on a girl who is tall with more narrower hip- neither of which I was blessed.  However, if you can’t seem to put this trendy look on the back shelf, there are things you can do just in case you are height deprived and maybe more volumptous in the hip department.

Off the shoulder tops not only look great with this fashion for the moment look but they will also slim down a more robust hip width.  Whatever you do, DON’T hem flares!  This will only distort the proportions making your body type look clumsy.  Find a company who caters to the shorter woman.  They will have done all of the calculations to make these pants with the proper ratios.

Of course…my love….heels.  Heels, once again to save the day, will give you height just by sliding them on but there is some consideration to make when chosing the right shoe with a flared pant.  The first look gives the look more of a classic, professional look-the pump.  I would recommend chosing a pump with a higher heel.  The most recommended styles are the wedge and chunky platforms for the sheer fact that these shoes are were all the craze during the days of disco.

Flares

Since these pants will most likely follow the fashion timeline of here today and gone tomorrow, I would like to suggest that keeping the pants less trendy by limiting too many embellishments.  Denim seems to be the highlighted fabric.

So have a throwback moment Bellas but perhaps leave that God awful blue eyeshadow in the past.  Us girls from the 70′s will be left up to show the younger girls just how much fun it is to rock this look.
